The Moon Jar: A Shared Pleasure

Man Chul Oh

Exhibition Overview

Art Plus Gallery presented a solo exhibition by Korean artist Man Chul Oh, introducing his distinctive interpretation of the traditional Korean Moon Jar (Dalhangari).

Through his refined ceramic-based paintings and quiet, contemplative forms, Oh explores the beauty of imperfection, balance, and subtle variation. The Moon Jar, with its simple silhouette and gentle asymmetry, becomes a visual metaphor for harmony, serenity, and the shared experience of beauty.

The exhibition, The Moon Jar: A Shared Pleasure, brought together works that reflect the artist’s ongoing dialogue between traditional Korean aesthetics and contemporary artistic expression. His restrained surfaces, delicate textures, and traces of color invite viewers to experience the Moon Jar not simply as an object, but as a space for contemplation and connection.

Art Plus Gallery presented this exhibition as part of its continuing program introducing significant Korean contemporary artists and connecting Korean artistic traditions with an international audience.
