The four Seasons of Ceramic Painting

Man Chul Oh

Apr 16 – 30 2018
Art Plus Gallery  , Korea

Exhibition Overview

The Four Seasons of Ceramic Painting is a solo exhibition by Korean artist Man Chul Oh, presenting his distinctive ceramic painting practice, in which the material qualities of porcelain and the expressive possibilities of painting come together.

Through ceramic surfaces transformed by intense heat, color, texture, and subtle variations in the firing process, Oh explores the changing rhythms of nature and the passage of time. The four seasons serve as a poetic framework for contemplating growth, transformation, maturity, and renewal.

Rather than simply illustrating seasonal landscapes, the artist translates the atmosphere and emotional qualities of nature into ceramic works. The resulting surfaces reveal a dialogue between earth, fire, color, and time, highlighting the unique character of ceramic as both a material and a medium of painting.

The exhibition presented Man Chul Oh’s continuing exploration of the boundaries between ceramics and contemporary painting, offering viewers an opportunity to experience the changing beauty of nature through the language of fire and clay.
