Empathy

Empathy 2025

Exhibition Overview

《EMPATHY》 is a special exhibition organized by Art Plus Gallery, exploring the power of art to connect people across different cultures, experiences, and perspectives.

Built around the three keywords Together, Play, and Africa, the exhibition brings together artists from Korea and Africa to create a space for cultural dialogue, exchange, and shared experience. Through painting, sculpture, and moving-image works, the exhibition considers how art can transcend differences in language, geography, and cultural background.

The vibrant colors, patterns, human figures, and everyday imagery found in African visual culture encounter the distinctive perspectives of Korean artists, creating new possibilities for artistic exchange. Rather than defining a culture through a single image or perspective, 《EMPATHY》 focuses on the encounter itself—the process of seeing, listening, sharing, and experiencing the world through another person’s perspective.

Video is also presented as an important medium, extending the concept of empathy beyond the physical artwork into moving images and visual narratives. Through this combination of diverse artistic practices, 《EMPATHY》 invites visitors to participate in a space where different cultures meet, communicate, and discover connections.

Ultimately, 《EMPATHY》 presents art as a universal language—one that encourages understanding, connection, and shared human experience across cultural boundaries.
