The Flow and Continuity of Time

When we recall our youth, it often appears radiant and beautiful. Yet when we look back more carefully, we discover a younger self who was confused, vulnerable, and unfamiliar with the world, struggling through moments of pain and uncertainty. This discrepancy emerges somewhere between the present and the past, because memory is ultimately the result of selection.

Within the space of time, I record the everyday events that unfold around me. Rather than beginning with visible figurative compositions or forms of expression, my work begins with the emotions and lingering impressions that remain from a particular moment.

The past, which cannot be changed, is sometimes exaggerated as time passes, while our subjective perspective continues to shift. At times, I attempt to erase emotions and memories once held within the flow of time; at other times, I try to preserve them in their entirety. From the perspective of the present, where memories are inevitably reinterpreted and transformed, I construct a dialogue between past and present.

Memories that were not consciously chosen seep into the inner self and remain intact. These accumulated and overlapping layers of memory are expressed as images momentarily left behind within the flow of perception.

I explore the strata of time that emerge within this spatial thickness—the layers formed through the accumulation, distortion, and reinterpretation of memory. By moving through this process in reverse, I seek to understand my present self and, ultimately, to reconcile with the person I once was.
