Artist’s Statement
My work explores the relationship between tradition and technology, the tangible and the intangible, and the physical world and the digital realm.
At the center of my artistic practice is an ongoing reflection on the Korean Moon Jar—a form that embodies simplicity, balance, imperfection, and the quiet beauty of emptiness. I reinterpret this traditional vessel through contemporary materials, digital technology, and new media, allowing its symbolic meaning to evolve within a rapidly changing technological environment.
Through works such as AI Moon Jar and 1330° AI Tunneling, I investigate how artificial intelligence and digital technology can create new ways of perceiving space, memory, identity, and existence. The idea of “tunneling” represents a passage between different dimensions of experience: between the physical and virtual, the past and the future, and human consciousness and artificial intelligence.
My practice does not seek to simply combine traditional Korean aesthetics with new technology. Rather, I explore how these seemingly different worlds can communicate with one another and generate new forms of artistic experience.
The Moon Jar becomes more than an object. It becomes a metaphor for existence itself—an open, imperfect, and continuously evolving space. Through sculpture, installation, video, performance, and AI-based media, I invite viewers to enter this space and contemplate the changing boundaries between nature, humanity, technology, and consciousness.
My work ultimately asks a simple but fundamental question:
As technology changes the way we experience the world, what remains essentially human?
